This Mooncast is about growth and newness, just in time for spring. The bud peeks out, fresh and tender seeking sunlight, warmth, nourishment and stretches out into the day eventually blooming in a display of color and joy. All of my mixes in this world are personal, but this one feels especially so and that is represented in its eclectic (perhaps more than usual) nature. Ambient country, old downtempo and trip hop, music you thought you heard on Buffy but you didn't, Brazilian house, deep house, melodic breaks, it's all here. And lots of acoustic instrumentation. I experienced my first real bout of depression this last year and had to do a lot of work to get my groove back. So this is an ode to that. It's not always sunshine and rainbows, even in spring. This one's for you tender listeners - may you grow and bloom into beautiful flowers. And at least there's always music.
