You are listening to Celluloid Mixtape with Topazu. We’ll explore Claire Denis’ 2001 erotic body horror Trouble Every Day. The film contains a disquieting nihilism and a feverish sensuality that makes it an essential standout in New French Extremity. Like many of the controversial "cinéma du corps" the film is a exploration of lust, intimacy and violence. This mix features music from the soundtrack by regular collaborators of Denis, the band Tindersticks, as well as some selections to capture the rapturous transgressions of the film. Melancholic ambient with swelling strings. Vocals to capture Beatrice Dalle’s anguish. Rhythms to tear at the flesh. Enjoy.
