You are listening to Celluloid Mixtape. This show is an exploration of cinema through sound. Film scores, sound design, soundtracks and sonic interpretations with me, Topazu, and a few guests. Pillion is a “DOM-COM” written and directed by Harry Lighton. Based on the novel Box Hill by Adam Mars-Jones, the film explores the blossoming relationship between a barber shop quartet singer, the gentile Colin, and the handsome yet emotionally cold lover, Ray. The film ignites universal themes of sex and pleasure with romantic whit. It is a tender and earnest story exploring the need to love and to be loved on one’s own terms. To yearn on the back of a motorcycle. You will be hearing some selections from the original soundtrack by composer Oliver Coates as well as some selections that make me imagine what Colin could be listening to during the events of the film. So strap in, submit yourself to me, Topazu. We are riding into the sonic world of Pillion.
