I made this mix during my radio show, “The Art of Sound” at KDVS on 90.3FM located in Davis, Ca. When I get into the station I go to the electronic CD section and grab a handful of random CDs. I always find really unique albums in the stacks at KDVS; genres from techno, breaks, afrobeat to house, soul, jazz. I use the 3-deck CD player to mix loops from each track. I love messing around with the pitch and using that to explore different textures in the music. Sometimes I get up to 300 BPM and down to 30 BPM and mess around with how all the sounds interact with each other. The mixes can get pretty messy but I like to use it as a challenge to try to match the beat and find some order.
